We were commissioned by Historic England to create a short film on the continuing Heritage Building Skills Programme.
First launched in 2021, the Heritage Building Skills Programme supplies in-work training and apprenticeships to encourage more people to learn endangered crafts such as stonemasonry, mosaic and stained-glass conservation and joinery in order to reduce shortages in heritage craft skills, as well as creating career opportunities for young people from less-advantaged backgrounds.
The film aims to illustrate the value of learning these specialised skills, as shared by the apprentices themselves. It also sheds light on the positive impact of the Programme on their future career aspirations.
