About

Squeaky Pedal is a heritage film and television production company based in Staffordshire and Cheshire, working with museums, heritage organisations and broadcasters across the UK and internationally.

Founded and led by Jason Davidson and Pete Roch, the company grew from a shared background in music and a commitment to telling historical stories properly. That collaborative foundation continues to shape the way we work.

We specialise in museum film production, exhibition content, digital heritage projects and television documentary production. Whether creating immersive gallery installations or developing historical documentaries for broadcast, our work is rooted in careful research, strong editorial judgement and confident filmmaking.

Every project is developed in-house, from historical research and scripting through to filming, editing and post-production. This integration allows us to combine editorial depth with production craft across both heritage and television work.

We have worked with national museums and heritage bodies including National Army Museum, Historic England, English Heritage, Cadw and Imperial War Museums, alongside broadcasters such as Channel 5.

Pete Roch.

CO-FOUNDER & HEAD OF PRODUCTION

Pete Roch is Head of Production at Squeaky Pedal, shaping how the company’s work is realised from first idea through to finished film.

Originally trained in music and sound engineering, he moved into filmmaking with a strong instinct for rhythm, tone and atmosphere. That grounding in sound continues to influence the way Squeaky Pedal’s films are crafted, with close attention paid not just to what audiences see, but to how the work feels.

Jason Davidson.

CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Jason leads the editorial direction of the company’s work, with a clear commitment to research, clarity and strong storytelling. Trained as a historian and writer, he approaches historical material with rigour and care, shaping award-winning documentaries, podcasts and exhibition films for museums, cultural institutions and broadcasters across the UK.

Close attention to primary documents and a reluctance to accept easy conclusions define his approach. He works closely with clients and creative teams to ensure projects are grounded and confident in their interpretation, without losing narrative strength.

He is particularly skilled at uncovering the extraordinary within everyday stories. Calm and measured in his manner, he builds trust with contributors and partners alike, creating the space for open and honest storytelling.

We’ve worked with many communities, partners and organisations.
