A Spotters Guide to High Street Architecture with Professor Janina Ramirez

We’re thrilled to present A Spotter's Guide to the Architecture of Gloucester, a film we created for Historic England that uncovers the fascinating history behind some of the city’s most iconic buildings. Join Professor Janina Ramirez for a tour of Gloucester High Street, where she highlights key architectural features found on English buildings from the 15th to 20th centuries.

Alongside Historic England, our team wrote, directed, and produced the film along, using animation overlays to bring to life details that often go unnoticed. From the Tudor Merchant’s House to the Old Bell Inn and the Victorian Lloyds Bank, the film showcases Gloucester’s hidden architectural gems.

As Professor Ramirez says, "Each building is a little time capsule," telling stories of the people and events that shaped them. The film invites viewers to explore Gloucester’s streets with fresh eyes and discover the history hiding in plain sight.

Supported by the High Street Heritage Action Zone, funded by Historic England and Gloucester City Council, the project celebrates the restoration of Westgate Street, one of Gloucester’s original Roman routes, and its rich architectural heritage.
