This Little Chicken & the Victoria Cross tells the story of how a teenager from the East End became the first London sailor to win the Victoria Cross for bravery. Utilising archive material in the most creative way and mixing it with animation and illustration in order to tell the story.
This film went on to win the Imperial War Museum Film Festival prize for Best Use of Archive in 2018.

I congratulate the film makers on ‘This Little Chicken & The Victoria Cross’ in tackling a subject which was never filmed. Their brave and imaginative use of multiple forms of media brought a compelling and fascinating story to life – winning the ‘Best Use of Archive Award’ at the Imperial War Museum Film Festival.
