Commissioned by Tooting Arts Club, and funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, we were asked to create a short film surrounding the Who Cares Project, as well as recording performances, and podcasts.
The Who Cares Project is an intergenerational oral histories project with the aim to bring two generations together. The project recruited six care homes around South London and formed partnerships with 3 groups of A-Level drama students, as the students undertook life story interviews with the residents. From these interviews, the drama students created verbatim theatre pieces, each of which weaves together the experiences and stories from the care home resident's lives.
The film itself follows the project on this powerful and emotive journey as the groups learnt oral history techniques, devised theatre, edited podcasts and how they got to know 12 amazing older people in the process.
